Toniebox Partners with Hasbro for Screen-Free Game Versions
Toy company Toniebox has collaborated with Hasbro to transform three popular board games into screen-free audio adventures for its new device.

German toy company Toniebox is launching a new way for children to play board games, entirely removing the need for a screen. The company has partnered with Hasbro to convert three of its best-known board games—Monopoly, The Game of Life, and Guess Who?—into screen-free audio adventures that run on the Toniebox device.
The initiative addresses a growing concern among parents about children's screen time. While kids' gaming time has surged, parents are seeking alternatives that do not require interaction with digital screens. Toniebox's core philosophy centers on enabling children to use the device independently, without constant parental supervision or complex technology.
Founded in 2016 by Patric Faßbender and Marcus Stahl, Toniebox aimed to provide children with engaging stories without the hassle of scratched CDs or complicated devices. The new Toniebox 2, released in the U.S. in October 2025, includes enhanced parental controls and the new Tonieplay feature, which allows for screen-free games with a small companion controller.
Adapting Hasbro's games for the Toniebox format required creativity. For instance, Guess Who?, originally a visual game, has been transformed into an audio experience where players describe monsters. The goal is to spark children's imagination and allow them to drive the narrative. Monopoly and The Game of Life utilize physical components and audio for interaction.
Toniebox and Hasbro have previously collaborated on other licenses, such as Peppa Pig. The companies are now exploring bringing more of Hasbro's game catalog into audio form, with Toniebox's development team continually testing new game mechanics.
