Torbay Glow Ride promotes safer travel after dark
Torbay's Glow Ride returns on October 30, 2026, to promote safer travel after dark. The event features lights, music, and community engagement.

Torbay's Glow Ride is scheduled for Friday, October 30, 2026, bringing together individuals of all ages for an evening focused on lights, music, and community action to advocate for safer travel after dark.
Organized by Safe, Sustainable Travel Torbay (SSTT), the event aligns with Cycling UK's national "My Ride. Our Right" campaign. This campaign addresses barriers that discourage cycling, particularly for women, and calls for improved safety and inclusivity on streets.
The evening commences at The Boathouse in Preston, featuring Sound Communities' Boom Bus for a festival of light and sound. Ocean Youth Radio will broadcast live, extending the event's reach. Participants who register in advance will receive free lights for their bicycles, and prizes will be awarded for the most creatively decorated bikes.
The event aims to be inclusive, welcoming participants regardless of age or cycling experience. Those without a bicycle can contact SSTT to inquire about loaner options, including e-bikes. The ride concludes at TQ Beerworks in Torquay.
