Danish tanker company TORM plc reported a significant increase in financial performance for the third quarter of 2026, with net profit rising to $199 million from $78 million in the same period last year. The results were driven by high freight rates, with the company achieving an average daily time charter equivalent (TCE) rate of $40,102 across its fleet.

The volatility in global oil trade flows, intensified by the ongoing conflict involving the US and Iran, has been a primary catalyst for the company's performance. Increased export activity from the US and Asia, combined with logistical inefficiencies resulting from disrupted transit routes in the Persian Gulf, has constrained available tanker capacity, pushing freight rates to elevated levels.

TORM continues to execute its fleet renewal strategy. During the quarter, the company divested two older vessels while securing multiple newbuilding contracts to modernize its fleet through 2030. CEO Jacob Meldgaard noted that these selective investments are intended to bolster long-term earnings potential and fleet efficiency.

In light of the quarterly results, the Board of Directors approved an interim dividend of $1.35 per share. Reflecting confidence in the market's trajectory for the remainder of the year, the company has raised the lower end of its full-year 2026 earnings guidance by $50 million.
