TOTO announces 60 billion yen investment in semiconductor component facility
Sanitary ware manufacturer TOTO plans to construct a new production plant in Japan to manufacture electrostatic chucks and AD-films for semiconductor etching.

Japanese sanitary equipment manufacturer TOTO has announced a 60 billion yen investment to build a 36,000-square-meter production facility in Buzen, Fukuoka. The company expects the plant to commence operations in the first half of the 2029 fiscal year.
The facility will produce next-generation electrostatic chucks and aerosol deposition (AD) films. These components are utilized in semiconductor etching processes, specifically engineered to withstand plasma exposure during high-precision manufacturing.
In addition to the new construction, TOTO is allocating 11 billion yen to its Nakatsu plants in Oita prefecture to install mass-production equipment for next-generation AD components. These upgrades are slated to go online in the 2028 fiscal year. The move represents a tactical expansion for the company as it scales its industrial capabilities within the semiconductor supply chain.
