Toyota Global Sales Decline in July, China Market Sees Significant Drop
Toyota Motor Corporation reported a 5.3% year-over-year decrease in global sales for July 2026. Sales in the Chinese market fell by 24.3% during the same period.

Toyota Motor Corporation announced that its global sales in July 2026 declined by 5.3% to 912,683 vehicles. Production also saw a decrease of 1.4% over the same period.
The Chinese market experienced a significant downturn, with sales dropping by 24.3% to 114,747 units. The automaker cited a continued slump in gasoline vehicle sales, including hybrids, exacerbated by rising fuel prices. Year-to-date sales in China from January to July decreased by 18.2%.
Domestically, Toyota's sales in Japan increased by 6.6% to 193,785 vehicles in July.
The company has also indicated plans to begin producing its next-generation electric SUVs in China starting in the autumn of 2027, signaling a shift in focus towards global markets rather than solely prioritizing Japan.
