Toys "R" Us to Open 120 New U.S. Stores
Toys "R" Us plans to significantly expand its retail presence by opening 120 new standalone U.S. stores before the upcoming holiday season. This expansion will bring the company's total number of standalone locations to 160.
Toys "R" Us has announced plans to increase its retail footprint across the United States with the addition of 120 new standalone stores. The expansion, conducted in partnership with Go! Retail Group, is scheduled to be completed in time for the peak holiday shopping season.
This initiative will more than triple the company's current standalone store count, bringing the total from 40 to 160 locations nationwide. Toys "R" Us also operates shop-in-shop concepts within Macy's department stores. A comprehensive list of the new store openings has not yet been released.
The new stores are expected to feature a wide array of toys and collectibles from popular brands, including Lego, Hot Wheels, Barbie, and Pokémon. Some locations will include "Creator Studios," designed for brand and influencer events, while others will offer amenities such as cafes and candy shops.
The expansion marks a significant chapter for the brand, which previously filed for bankruptcy in 2017 and closed its stores in 2018. The brand was later acquired by Tru Kids Brands and is now owned by WHP Global. Recent years have seen a resurgence, including partnerships with Macy's and the opening of flagship stores.
