TP-Link Prepares First Wi-Fi 8 Router for Release

TP-Link is nearing the launch of its first hardware supporting the Wi-Fi 8 standard, officially known as IEEE 802.11bn. The company introduced the Archer 8 Ultra tri-band router and the Deco 8 Ultra mesh system at IFA 2026.

The new devices aim to address common connectivity issues, according to TP-Link's announcement, rather than solely focusing on speed increases. The Archer 8 Ultra features 18 internal antennas and supports wireless speeds of up to 19 Gbps, with wired connections capable of 10 Gbps. The Deco 8 Ultra mesh system offers wireless speeds up to 22 Gbps and 10 Gbps wired connectivity.

While the Wi-Fi 8 standard is still under development, TP-Link's move signals an early adoption strategy for the next generation of wireless networking. The company has not yet provided specific release dates or pricing details for the new products.

The upcoming Wi-Fi 8 standard is expected to enhance network performance and capacity, particularly in environments with numerous connected devices. TP-Link's proactive approach positions them to capitalize on the anticipated demand for faster and more reliable wireless networks.
