The documentary premiered at the Venice International Film Festival two weeks ago. Despite earlier rumors that Universal Pictures might reconsider its international distribution plans, domestic distributor Bleecker Street Media has confirmed a US theatrical release and launched the trailer.
Gibney is known for his often controversial documentaries, having previously tackled subjects ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Hunter S. Thompson to WikiLeaks and Scientology. He won an Oscar for Best Documentary Feature for "Taxi to the Dark Side" in 2007.
