Transport Loss of Pharmaceutical Product Under Investigation
Cell pharm GmbH reported a transport loss of its pharmaceutical product Silapo® 2000 I.E./0.6 ml (epoetin zeta). Authorities have been notified.
German pharmaceutical company cell pharm GmbH announced on September 26, 2014, that a shipment of its product Silapo® 2000 I.E./0.6 ml (epoetin zeta) has gone missing during transport. The company stated that two packages of the medication were lost.
The affected product is Silapo 2,000 I.E./0.6 ml pre-filled syringes, 6 x 1 piece (PZN 02157214), with batch number 3T001V3. The company warned that these missing packages could be introduced into the market by a third party. The relevant supervisory authority has been informed.
Cell pharm GmbH is requesting that all pharmacies that acquired packages of the specified batch since June 2014 report their source, acquisition date, and the number of packages in writing to the company. The company also stated there is no need for returns and no cause for a product recall.
The German Medicines Commission (AMK) has asked pharmacies to be vigilant for any signs of tampering or other defects with the affected product as part of their routine quality checks and to report any suspicions to the AMK.
