Travix Reports Significant Revenue Gains and Stronger Partnerships via Amadeus Technology

The adoption of Amadeus' merchandising technology has led to a revenue increase of up to 50% for Travix, a Netherlands-based online travel agency (OTA), according to CEO John Mangelaars. The implementation has also reportedly improved customer experience and strengthened relationships with airline partners.

Mangelaars spearheaded Travix's shift to focus on flight travel over six years ago and was instrumental in the company becoming an early adopter of Amadeus' merchandising technology. Travix, which operates multiple brands including CheapTickets.nl and BudgetAir, served over 5 million passengers last year and operates in 39 countries.

Optimizing the sale of ancillary services, such as baggage and seat selection, has been key. "For us, it's not about merchandising per se as a goal, it is about displaying the elements of a product," Mangelaars explained. "We combine merchandising from an airline with other products, so this whole 'portfolio of things' can help the customer decide which ticket they want to buy."

The company has implemented several Amadeus solutions, including airline "fare families" pricing models, chargeable seats, and baggage services. This strategic focus on customer understanding and personalized offers has created a "three-way win" for Travix, its customers, and the airlines.
