Trend Micro Warns of Fake iPhone Duo Pre-order Websites
Security firm Trend Micro has identified several counterfeit Apple websites capitalizing on the popularity of iPhone Duo pre-orders for phishing attacks.
Security company Trend Micro has issued a warning regarding a rise in fraudulent Apple websites designed to intercept pre-order sales for the upcoming iPhone Duo. These fake sites, using tactics like "limited early access offers," aim to lure consumers into phishing scams.
According to Trend Micro's report, these websites can detect the operating system version of a visitor's device. If known vulnerabilities are found, attackers may exploit them. The risk extends to users who simply visit the site without entering data or downloading files, potentially leading to their device being compromised.
Trend Micro advises consumers to purchase products exclusively through Apple's official website or authorized retailers. They also emphasize the importance of keeping device operating systems and applications updated to mitigate the risks of online fraud and vulnerability exploits.
The firm urges vigilance and stresses the use of legitimate channels for purchasing electronic devices.
