Trenitalia and Alstom Unveil New 200 km/h Regional Train
Trenitalia and Alstom have unveiled a new regional train capable of reaching 200 km/h at the EXPO Ferroviaria 2025 trade fair in Milan. The train was designed and built in Italy.
Milan, September 30, 2025 – Trenitalia and Alstom today revealed a new regional train with a maximum speed of 200 km/h at the opening of EXPO Ferroviaria 2025. The train was designed and manufactured by Alstom at its Italian sites in Savigliano, Sesto San Giovanni, and Bologna.
The new train, part of Alstom's Coradia Stream family, is an electric multiple-unit train featuring a low-floor design for accessibility and modularity. It is engineered for high performance to meet regional transport needs.
These trains will enter service with Trenitalia, operating in the regions of Tuscany, Umbria, and Lazio. The Coradia Stream platform is widely used across Europe, with over 800 units sold for various regional and intercity services.
Trenitalia CEO Gianpiero Strisciuglio highlighted the new 200 km/h regional train as a significant step in the fleet's modernization. Alstom Italy's Managing Director Michele Viale expressed pride in showcasing Italian industrial capabilities with the new train.
