TrinaTracker Introduces Robots for Solar Module Installation and Cleaning

TrinaTracker, a subsidiary of Trina Solar, has launched two new robotic products: the BUILDEX PV Module Installation Robot and the AURORA PV Cleaning Robot. These additions are intended to enhance the company's smart photovoltaic (PV) ecosystem and streamline operations for solar power plants.

The company has transitioned from being solely a tracker equipment supplier to a provider of smart PV and robotics solutions. TrinaTracker states that the integration of these robots with AI algorithms, intelligent services, and optimized plant operations offers comprehensive lifecycle solutions for PV power plants, aiming to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

The BUILDEX installation robot addresses challenges in large-scale solar projects, particularly those associated with manual module installation. Utilizing AI and machine vision, BUILDEX automates the picking, transportation, alignment, and placement of modules. TrinaTracker claims the robot can install up to 90 modules per hour, significantly faster than manual labor, and can operate on uneven terrain, reducing labor requirements and safety risks.

The AURORA cleaning robot is designed to maintain the cleanliness of solar panels, combating performance degradation caused by dust and dirt. It autonomously plans cleaning routes and performs non-damaging cleaning, aiming to boost long-term energy yield and lower maintenance expenses. The robot is said to handle height differences up to 50 mm and is powered by its own PV modules.

TrinaTracker views the combination of AI and robotics as a strategic enhancement to its "Tracker+" ecosystem. The company believes these solutions will help reduce the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) and maximize the value of solar assets. TrinaTracker plans to further integrate AI into various aspects of PV plant management and expand its robot offerings.
