Trump Administration Bars US Citizens in Congo From Returning Home
The Trump administration on Monday barred US citizens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo from returning home due to the ongoing Ebola outbreak. Those affected must spend 21 days in a third country before being allowed re-entry.

The Trump administration has implemented a travel ban preventing US citizens in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) from returning to the United States. The decision comes amidst an escalating Ebola outbreak in the region.
Reuters reported that Americans currently in the DRC or those who have recently traveled there have been placed on a "do-not-board" list. This measure requires them to spend 21 days in a third country before they can travel back to the US. The transportation directive, known as Title 49, was independently confirmed by Politico.
Reports indicate that approximately two dozen Americans scheduled to fly home on Tuesday have already been blocked by this new rule. It remains unclear whether the ban extends to government employees, as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has at least two dozen personnel working in the DRC.
The travel restriction aims to mitigate the risk of the Ebola virus being imported into the United States as the epidemic continues to spread.
