Trump Announces New 'Super Intelligence Force' for AI Efforts

President Donald Trump announced Sunday the creation of a new government task force focused on artificial intelligence, naming Jay Clayton, his director of national intelligence, to lead the initiative. The task force is to be known as the "Super Intelligence Force."

The announcement follows a meeting last week where Trump met with executives from AI companies. These companies reportedly signed a voluntary accord aimed at self-policing the development of AI technology. The new task force will coordinate federal efforts to maintain U.S. leadership in what Trump refers to as "super intelligence."

In a social media post, Trump stated that the task force aims to "protect the interests, and improve the lives, of all Americans." The group is expected to engage with a wide range of stakeholders, including consumers, public interest groups, religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and AI companies.

Other members of the task force include Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor. The group will report directly to President Trump and his Chief of Staff, Susie Wiles.
