Trump Orders Establishment of a National Space Academy

President Donald Trump has initiated the process to establish the first national space academy in the United States by signing an executive order on Friday. During a visit to the Johnson Space Center, Trump highlighted the need to train a new generation of space professionals.

"It's clear that we will need to educate and train an entire generation of skilled service members, engineers, and civil operators, and everything else to do what we have to do," Trump stated upon signing the order.

The proposed United States Space Academy would operate under NASA's jurisdiction. According to U.S. space officials, it is not intended to be a traditional service academy that educates and trains officers for the armed services, such as the Air Force Academy.

The executive order establishes a commission tasked with creating the academy, aiming to shape the future workforce for the space sector.
