Guidance issued by US Customs and Border Protection details the new tariffs, which apply immediately to specified drone categories. Additionally, a 25 percent tariff has been placed on smaller drones. Drones from allied nations, including those from the UK, EU, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland, and Taiwan, face smaller but still significant levies.
"Nonsensitive" drones without thermal imaging capabilities, along with their components, will be subject to a 25 percent tariff beginning February 9, 2027.
