TSMC Forecasts Sixth Consecutive Record Profit Amid AI Chip Demand

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) is anticipated to announce its sixth consecutive record profit in the third quarter of 2026. Analysts predict a 65% rise in net profit to T$746.3 billion (US$23.4 billion), based on forecasts from 16 industry analysts.

The sustained demand for artificial intelligence (AI) chips, for which TSMC is a key supplier to companies like Nvidia and Apple, alongside its advanced chip-packaging technologies, is bolstering its financial results. The company previously reported record quarterly revenue, underscoring its strong position in the semiconductor industry.

TSMC is also expanding its global manufacturing footprint, with significant investments planned in the United States. The company intends to invest US$265 billion in Arizona. However, rising overseas production costs, particularly in the U.S. where costs can be up to 2.4 times higher than in Taiwan, may present challenges to profit margins in the future.
