TuneCore Artists Have Generated Over $3 Billion in Royalties

New York – TuneCore, a music distribution service for independent artists, has surpassed $3 billion in total revenue generated for its artists since the company was founded in 2006. TuneCore is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Believe, a global leader in digital music.

The reported $3 billion represents the cumulative earnings of all artists utilizing TuneCore, ranging from emerging acts to established professionals. These figures indicate a strong pathway for artists to build careers through independent distribution. Approximately 8,000 TuneCore artists have earned over $10,000, thousands have collected between $50,000 and $100,000, and many have surpassed $1 million in earnings.

TuneCore’s direct deals with music platforms and services differentiate it from other market players. The company also provides additional revenue streams through its Social Platforms and YouTube Monetization programs, alongside its publishing administration service, which alone has paid out nearly $90 million to artists since its 2011 launch. The company positions itself as a structure for artists' long-term career development.

Independent artists represent the fastest-growing segment of the global music market. Their market share grew from 1.7% in 2015 to 5.3% in 2021, according to MIDiA Research. TuneCore and many of its artists share a strong spirit of independence.

TuneCore CEO Andreea Gleeson stated, "We are proud to deliver innovative technology services at affordable prices to all creators, whether they're just starting out or are already established." She noted that many successful artists, including Ed Sheeran and Lizzo, began their careers using TuneCore.
