Tunnels on A17 near Dresden closed overnight

The A17 motorway will be closed overnight for four consecutive nights near Dresden due to maintenance work on the Coschütz, Dölzschen, and Altfranken tunnels. The section of the motorway between the Dresden-Gorbitz and Dresden-Südvorstadt junctions will be shut from Monday evening to Friday morning, between 8 PM and 5 AM in both directions.

Traffic will be diverted via official detour routes U15 towards Prague and U16 in the opposite direction. These routes pass through the city of Dresden, which is expected to increase noise pollution for residents, particularly in the Südvorstadt district. Furthermore, the detours will lead over the dilapidated Nossener Bridge, which already has traffic restrictions due to ongoing reconstruction work.

The Nossener Bridge is already a bottleneck, with only two out of four lanes currently available. The closure of the A17 is anticipated to exacerbate congestion as all motorway traffic will be funneled through this restricted area. The maintenance work is scheduled for completion on Friday morning, after which the A17 will reopen for normal traffic flow.
