Tuomela to head production planning at Metsä Fibre's new Rauma sawmill

Timo Tuomela, an experienced production planner, has taken on the role of heading production planning at Metsä Fibre's new sawmill in Raumo. He will be responsible for managing the production of the mill's 750,000 cubic meters of sawn timber.

Tuomela brings 20 years of experience in production planning and a 25-year career with Metsä Fibre's sawmills. He began his tenure at Metsä Fibre's Merikarvia sawmill before transferring to his new position in Raumo in early 2022. His responsibilities include steering the entire production chain, from allocating raw materials and selecting sawing patterns to delivering the finished product to customers.

Efficient production relies on precise raw material forecasting and optimization. Tuomela emphasizes the importance of information flow regarding the quality and dimensions of incoming timber. This data ensures maximum production efficiency, reliable deliveries, and high quality. Metsä Fibre's new Rauma facility utilizes advanced technology, such as X-ray measurement, for detailed assessment of timber properties.
