Turkcell Enters 5G Era With Shaquille O'Neal Campaign
Turkcell, Turkey's leading mobile operator, has launched a new campaign to mark its entry into the 5G era. The campaign features NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal.
MALTEPE, Turkey – Turkcell, Turkey's leading mobile operator and technology company, is entering the 5G era with a new campaign featuring basketball icon Shaquille O'Neal. The campaign is designed to reflect the company’s leadership vision and long-term infrastructure readiness for next-generation connectivity.
The campaign highlights the speed, capacity, and coverage of Turkcell's 5G network. It employs a humorous narrative centered around a playful hair transplant gag, involving O'Neal improvising an answer to reporters about his visit to Turkey. This creative approach aims to make the benefits of 5G, such as speed and capacity, more relatable and engaging for a broad audience.
The production involved extensive efforts, including 35 days of pre-production and three days of filming with O'Neal. The shoot utilized a crew of 180 people and nearly 60 vehicles. Notably, nine custom wigs and four tailored costumes were created specifically for O'Neal's role in the campaign.
With this campaign, Turkcell signals its ambition to lead Turkey's 5G transformation, combining technological preparedness with creative storytelling to solidify its market leadership position.
