Twitch Introduces Parental Controls for Teen Users
Twitch is rolling out new parental controls that allow guardians to manage their teenagers' activity on the platform, including the ability to block them from broadcasting.
Streaming platform Twitch has launched a suite of new parental controls designed to give guardians greater oversight of teen users.
These features allow parents to link their account with their child's, aged 13 to 17. Once linked, parents can access account management tools and will receive a weekly summary detailing their teen's viewing habits, including channels watched and duration.
The controls offer specific options to curb certain platform interactions. Parents can opt to prevent their teens from going live and broadcasting their own content. Additionally, the ability for teens to use Twitch's private messaging feature, known as Whispers, can be disabled, preventing both sending and receiving direct messages.
Further controls allow parents to set daily time limits for usage. The introduction of these tools reflects a growing trend among online platforms to address concerns about underage user safety and online behavior.
