Agilent Technologies announced on January 14, 2025, that two of its smart factories, located in Shanghai, China, and Penang, Malaysia, have been designated as Global Lighthouses by the World Economic Forum. This recognition brings Agilent's total Lighthouse designations to four, underscoring its role in scaling Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies in manufacturing.

The Lighthouse Network identifies 13 factories globally as leaders in advanced manufacturing, leveraging digital technologies to transform operations. Agilent is the only company in the analytical and clinical laboratory technology sector to receive this designation. Its facilities in Singapore and Waldbronn, Germany, were previously named Lighthouses in 2022 and 2023, respectively.

The Shanghai facility, a strategic global manufacturing and R&D hub, employs AI and advanced data analytics for the design and production of gas chromatography instruments. This integration has led to a 56% increase in productivity and a 31% reduction in lead times, enhancing customer satisfaction for delivery.

The Penang site utilizes AI in 3D printing to automate material configuration and minimize waste. Its digital platform has resulted in a 40% productivity gain and a 48% decrease in delivery lead times. Both factories represent Agilent's commitment to implementing advanced digital manufacturing to improve operational efficiency and customer outcomes.
