Two employees of the Luxembourg Institute of Health (LIH) have received national honours for their significant contributions to research and institutional support.
Florence Henry, Executive Assistant to the CEO and CFAO office since 2009, was named Chevalier de l’Ordre du Mérite du Grand-Duché de Luxembourg. Her distinction acknowledges her professionalism and support for LIH's leadership and corporate activities, which have helped create conditions for research excellence. Dr Laurent Vallar, Head of Science Strategy at LIH, received the title of Chevalier de l’Ordre Grand-Ducal de la Couronne de Chêne. His recognition highlights his work in scientific strategy, funding support, strategic collaborations, and enhancing international visibility for researchers.
The honours were presented on June 19 by Minister of Research and Higher Education Stéphanie Obertin during the traditional National Day medal ceremony. The awards recognize individuals contributing to research and higher education in Luxembourg.
Dr. Vallar, who joined LIH in 1997, has been instrumental in shaping the institute's scientific strategy, supporting researchers in securing funding, and fostering strategic collaborations. He has also focused on developing frameworks to support early-career researchers.
These distinctions acknowledge both individual dedication and the Luxembourg Institute of Health's broader role in advancing scientific research, coordination, and institutional excellence within the country.
