Two years after German floods: Educational recovery efforts continue
Aktion Deutschland Hilft and its partner Help provide ongoing support for the reconstruction of LVR-Paul-Klee school.

Two years after the 2021 floods destroyed school infrastructure in Leichlingen, Germany, the LVR-Paul-Klee school has established a new routine for its students. The school, which serves children with physical and intellectual disabilities, required significant resources to resume operations after the disaster.
Help – Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe, a member organization of the Aktion Deutschland Hilft alliance, has directed funding toward the school to replace damaged learning materials. This effort is part of a broader commitment by the alliance to fund over 60 local recovery projects across the affected regions of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.
Help program coordinator Dirk W. Pieck noted that while progress has been made, the organization expects to continue supporting local communities for another two to three years. Tracey Searle-Westerfeld, head of the school's support association, highlighted that the aid provided both practical tools for daily lessons and necessary support for the students' mental well-being.
