TypeSafe AI raises $870 million at $7.5 billion valuation

Startup TypeSafe AI, the creator of the non-text AI model Jev, announced it has raised $870 million in funding at a $7.5 billion valuation. The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with participation from Sequoia and existing investor DCVC.

Jev, launched just weeks ago, quickly gained traction. The company reports that one-third of Fortune 500 companies are already utilizing the model, indicating rapid enterprise adoption.

The model uses a transformer architecture but differs from large language models (LLMs) by producing probabilities or "calibrated decisions" rather than text. TypeSafe claims Jev operates significantly faster and consumes fewer tokens than traditional LLMs, positioning it for task automation over text generation.

Co-founded in 2024 by former OpenAI researcher Diogo Almeida, ex-Meta engineer Sasha Sheng, and engineer Erik Gafni, TypeSafe AI focuses on automating tasks through decision-making processes.
