Uber reports negligible consumer adoption of AI agents for bookings

During Uber’s third-quarter earnings call, executives disclosed that consumer reliance on AI agents to manage ride bookings is currently minimal. Despite significant industry focus on autonomous digital assistants, the platform recorded only four AI-initiated ride bookings during its busiest week of the quarter, which coincided with Halloween.

Data for Uber Eats, the company's delivery arm, showed slightly higher engagement, with 500 orders placed via AI agents. However, when measured against the 320 million total trips and orders processed by the company that same week, the volume remains statistically insignificant.

CEO Dara Khosrowshahi acknowledged the limited traction, noting that the technology is in its nascent stage. The data reflects a broader trend across the delivery sector; DoorDash recently reported that its platform has received only a few hundred orders from AI agents, suggesting that most users still prefer standard mobile application interfaces for transactions.
