Uber reports negligible transaction volume from third-party AI agents

Uber revealed in its recent earnings report that third-party AI agents played a minimal role in its operations during the third quarter of 2026. Data shows that only four ride requests were successfully booked through these external automated platforms, representing a fraction of the company's total volume.

While ride-hailing services saw virtually no uptake from AI agents, the company reported slightly higher figures for its delivery arm. During the week of Halloween, Uber recorded approximately 500 Uber Eats orders processed through AI, a minor figure when compared against the 320 million total rides and food deliveries processed by the firm in that timeframe.

This disclosure marks the first time Uber has provided concrete data on the integration of external AI agents on its platform. The figures suggest that despite the public interest in tools like OpenAI's Dots or Meta's Muse, the actual consumer shift toward delegating logistics tasks to autonomous agents remains in its infancy.

Industry analysts note that while the technology is maturing, consumer trust and the technical hurdles of integrating third-party APIs into complex logistics platforms remain significant barriers to widespread adoption.
