Uber Technologies and a driver are facing a lawsuit following a fatal pedestrian incident in Lowell. The family has filed suit.

Uber Technologies, Inc. and driver Guilherme Candido are facing a wrongful death lawsuit following a fatal pedestrian incident in Lowell. Michael Kelly Injury Lawyers filed the suit on Tuesday in Middlesex Superior Court on behalf of Esther Kahare, the personal representative of the deceased, Leah Kahare.
The lawsuit alleges that the actions of both Uber and the driver were negligent and directly caused Kahare's death in Lowell on July 25. Court documents claim Uber was aware of the driver's alleged prior safety violations.
The filing seeks damages for emotional distress, funeral expenses, and loss of support. Portier, LLC, a contractor for Uber, is also named in the suit. Uber Technologies has not yet commented on the lawsuit.
