Ubisoft blocks Linux players from For Honor multiplayer

Ubisoft has announced it will disable access to the multiplayer mode for its game For Honor for players on Linux and SteamOS starting September 10. The decision stems from the inability of the Easy Anti-Cheat system, used by the game, to function effectively on these platforms.
This move means that Linux players, including those using Steam Deck, will no longer be able to participate in online matches. Ubisoft stated that they cannot deploy adequate protection measures against cheating on the Linux platform.
For Honor, released in February 2017, is a medieval combat game where players choose from various factions. The game uses Epic Games' Easy Anti-Cheat to combat cheating on PC.
Ubisoft is not the first publisher to limit Linux support over anti-cheat concerns. EA and Respawn Entertainment previously stopped supporting Linux for Apex Legends, citing the significant effort required to combat ongoing cheating.
Ubisoft has indicated that they may reconsider support in the future. The company stated they will continue to explore methods to improve their anti-cheat system and potentially reopen access for the Linux platform at a later time.
