Ubisoft faces crowdfunding proposal to revive Prince of Persia remake

An anonymous fan has publicly proposed providing 5 million euros to assist Ubisoft in resuming development of the long-delayed Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. The proposal aims to fund an assessment of the project's technical and commercial feasibility, though the offeror acknowledges that final authority remains with Ubisoft.

Ubisoft officially canceled the remake in January 2026, citing an inability to meet quality standards without incurring unsustainable development costs. The project had been in flux since its initial 2020 announcement, moving from Ubisoft’s Indian studios to the Montreal team before ultimately being shelved.

The donor claims that the proposal is not intended for profit or intellectual property acquisition, but to see the title released to the public. Ubisoft has not issued a formal response to the solicitation.
