UEG Establishes Patient Advisory Board to Strengthen Patient Voice in Digestive Health
United European Gastroenterology (UEG) has launched a new Patient Representatives Advisory Board (PRAB) to integrate patient perspectives into its work on digestive health.

United European Gastroenterology (UEG) has established a new Patient Representatives Advisory Board (PRAB) to integrate patient perspectives into its public affairs activities and broader efforts to improve digestive health across Europe.
The PRAB was launched at UEG Week 2026 in Barcelona, marking a significant step in UEG's commitment to strengthening the role of individuals living with digestive diseases.
This initiative builds upon UEG's prior collaboration with patient organizations and aims to create a formal interface between patients and the organization. The goal is to jointly identify challenges related to digestive diseases and enhance cooperation with patient groups.
UEG President Joost PH Drenth emphasized that patient perspectives must be included from the outset to effectively improve digestive health. The PRAB provides a structured avenue for listening and learning from patients, ensuring their voices influence UEG's priorities.
Patient organization representatives stated that the PRAB creates a formal space for patient perspectives to feed directly into UEG's work. Through collaboration, common challenges can be identified, and advocacy efforts can be shaped to reflect the experiences and priorities of those they serve.
