UEG Establishes Patient Representatives Advisory Board to Enhance Patient Voice in Digestive Health

United European Gastroenterology (UEG) has launched a new Patient Representatives Advisory Board (PRAB) to integrate patient perspectives into its activities and improve digestive health across Europe.

18 October 2026

United European Gastroenterology (UEG) has established a new Patient Representatives Advisory Board (PRAB) to integrate patient perspectives into its operations and efforts to improve digestive health throughout Europe.

The PRAB, unveiled at UEG Week 2026 in Barcelona, signifies UEG's commitment to strengthening the role of individuals living with digestive diseases. This structured and independent body aims to ensure patient experiences inform UEG's public affairs work and broader initiatives.

The board's formation builds upon UEG's prior collaboration with patient organizations, including the Digestive Health Roundtable 2025 and its manifesto. This manifesto advocated for recognizing patients as co-creators in digestive health policy, research, and care.

UEG President Joost P.H. Drenth highlighted the importance of patient input for improving digestive health in ways that truly meet patient needs. The PRAB is expected to help identify common challenges in digestive diseases and foster collaboration with patient organizations.
