UK Government's Solar Roadmap Recognizes Floating Solar Technology

The UK Government has released its Solar Roadmap, setting a national target to increase solar capacity to 75 gigawatts by 2035. The strategy document specifically recognizes floating solar technology as a crucial element in meeting this goal.

Nova Innovation, a company specializing in floating solar solutions, has expressed encouragement following the government's acknowledgment. Floating solar offers a method for generating clean energy while preserving land, an advantage in densely populated regions. The technology also contributes to reducing water evaporation and conserving water resources, presenting opportunities for reservoirs, quarries, and ports.

"As an island nation with reservoirs the length and breadth of the country, floating solar has huge potential. The UK already has several floating solar arrays and the Solar Roadmap will act as a catalyst for rolling out floating solar at scale," said John Meagher, Chief Business Officer at Nova Innovation.

By supporting technologies like floating solar and working to remove deployment barriers, the government aims to lay the groundwork for a cleaner and more resilient energy future, a transition Nova Innovation is positioned to contribute to.
