Ukraine claims Starlink service disrupted without warning
Ukrainian officials report that Starlink has imposed sudden service limitations, disrupting military operations and drone use. The move is suspected to be linked to recent political tensions involving Elon Musk.

Ukrainian officials claim that Elon Musk's Starlink satellite internet service has unexpectedly imposed limitations, disrupting the country's military operations. Reports from Reuters and the Financial Times indicate that the restrictions have specifically impacted Ukraine's drone operations and missions.
Serhii Beskrestnov, a Ukrainian defense technology advisor, stated on Telegram that "it is clear that this action is not coincidental and is related to the current political situation." He suggested the service limitations occurred days after Musk commented on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's actions on X, formerly Twitter.
Musk's remarks were in response to criticism from former U.S. President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine's targeting of Russian oil refineries. Musk had responded to Trump's criticism by stating Zelenskyy "has gone too far." Ukrainian officials now suspect these political disputes are the cause of the Starlink service disruptions.
SpaceX, the parent company of Starlink, has not officially commented on Ukraine's accusations or the reasons behind the service limitations. The incident raises questions about the role and reliability of satellite internet services in conflict zones and the potential for political influence.
