Ukraine's Swarmer develops AI software for drone swarm coordination

Ukrainian defense technology company Swarmer is developing new artificial intelligence software designed to enhance the coordinated operations of drone swarms and other unmanned systems on the battlefield. The software reduces the need for continuous human control, allowing for better machine coordination and task distribution.

The idea for Swarmer emerged for founder Serhii Kupriienko as Ukraine's drone warfare capabilities evolved. While drones were used sparingly at the outset of the conflict in 2022, their role has significantly increased. By 2025, drone strikes are projected to account for up to 80 percent of battlefield casualties. The software aims to optimize drone utilization and alleviate the burden on human operators.
