Ukrainian drones eliminate US tank brigade in war game

Ukrainian drone teams eliminated an entire US Army tank brigade and other armored vehicles during this year's Combined Resolve military exercise. The semiannual drill, held in Germany from April 9 to May 10, provided the US military with a firsthand look at how modern drone warfare has evolved on the battlefields of Ukraine.

US troops participating in the exercise were on rotational deployment from Fort Hood, Texas. According to US officials and a participant speaking with The Wall Street Journal, Ukrainian drone operators were able to easily spot and destroy US armored vehicles by mimicking tactics such as dropping bombs from above or simulating kamikaze strikes.

The US armored vehicles were being destroyed so rapidly that they were "respawned" and sent back into the simulated fray. This outcome underscores the increasing importance of drone technology and its application in modern warfare, while offering valuable lessons for US forces in future operations.

The exercise results provide significant insights into the US military's readiness and defense strategies, given the growing role of drones in conflict resolution. The situation emphasizes the need for continuous updates to military strategies and technologies to counter rapidly evolving threats.
