Ukrainians Concerned Over Developments in Germany's Sachsen-Anhalt

Political developments in the German state of Sachsen-Anhalt are causing concern in Ukraine, reports ARD correspondent Niels Bula from Kyiv. According to Bula, people in Ukraine are worried about potential negative impacts on Germany's continued financial and military support for the country.

The state parliament in Sachsen-Anhalt recently passed a joint motion by the AfD and BSW parties calling for an immediate halt to all aid to Ukraine. The AfD won the state election and its lead candidate is aiming to become Minister-President.

In Ukraine, the AfD is widely regarded as a pro-Russian party that disseminates Kremlin propaganda. Bula suggests that such political trends in Germany could undermine international support for Ukraine's defense against Russia's aggression. The Ukrainian ambassador has also criticized the proposal to cease aid.

Additionally, news reports indicated that the European Union has transferred nearly €2.9 billion to Ukraine for the procurement of military equipment, including drones and air defense missiles. Ukrainian authorities are also investigating the shooting of five Ukrainian soldiers behind the front lines in the Kharkiv region, with suspicions of human trafficking involved.
