Ukrop Homestyle Foods recalls baked products over aluminum sliver fears
Ukrop Homestyle Foods initiated a voluntary recall of six of its prepared bakery items on Saturday due to potential aluminum slivers.
Virginia-based food manufacturer Ukrop Homestyle Foods has initiated a voluntary recall affecting six of its prepared bakery items over concerns of potential aluminum slivers. The company announced the recall on July 30, following the discovery of an aluminum sliver in a baking pan used during the production process. A customer also reported finding a piece of aluminum in one of the products. No injuries have been reported.
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) posted the notice over the weekend. The affected products were sold at various retailers including Wegmans, Food Lion, Kroger, Publix, and Harris Teeter, as well as some military retail locations in Virginia, North Carolina, and West Virginia. Online sales were also impacted.
The six recalled products include Ukrop’s Baked Spaghetti (both bulk and smaller package sizes), Ukrop’s Chicken Cobbler (bulk and smaller package sizes), and Ukrop’s Bread Pudding with vanilla sauce and its associated kits. The "Best by" dates for the affected items range from July 6, 2026, through August 5, 2026. Retail locations have been notified and the products removed from shelves.
