UK's first LGBTQ+ angel syndicate launches with debut investment
The Gay Investor Network has officially launched in London, announcing a £100,000 investment into AI-based insurance firm Atlian.

The Gay Investor Network (The GIN) has launched as the UK’s first angel syndicate dedicated to the LGBTQ+ community. During its inaugural event at 22 Bishopsgate in London, the group announced its first capital allocation: a £100,000 investment in Atlian, a firm that utilizes artificial intelligence to identify and facilitate insurance for construction projects.
The investment was part of a pre-seed round led by Fuel Ventures. The syndicate was established to address disparities in venture capital access, following research that highlighted a significant portion of LGBTQ+ founders feel uncomfortable disclosing their identity to potential investors. The GIN aims to provide a platform where founders can engage with backers who offer a more inclusive environment.
Founded by Mark James, the network operates as an accredited syndicate and is currently expanding its footprint. Future plans include opening regional hubs in major UK cities, including Manchester, Edinburgh, and Cardiff, alongside initiatives designed to provide educational resources for new angel investors.
