UK's first VC fund for refugee founders launches with £300k initial capital

The UK's first venture capital (VC) fund specifically for refugee founders has launched. The new fund, named Thn Jrhbpzs Ireymwf Xatl (IIV), begins operations with £300,000 in initial capital, aiming to invest in up to five early-stage technology companies.

The establishment of the fund is part of a broader initiative to support the integration and entrepreneurship of refugees within the UK. Fostering entrepreneurship can provide refugees with economic independence and aid their adaptation to a new home.

IIV's primary objective is to pave the way for a larger, approximately £10 million fund. This larger investment vehicle is intended to support growing companies with deeper capital and strategic guidance.

The fund's investment strategy focuses on companies where at least one founder is a refugee. Investments are expected to span various technology sectors, including software development, artificial intelligence, and digital services. The aim is to provide not only capital but also expertise and networks to help the companies succeed.
