Ultraschall Berlin new music festival runs from January 19 to 23
The Ultraschall Berlin festival, co-hosted by Deutschlandfunk Kultur and rbbKultur, continues through January 23 featuring contemporary orchestral and experimental performances.
Ultraschall Berlin opened its 2022 edition on January 19, marking a return to larger orchestral formats after a pandemic-related pause. The five-day festival, organized by Deutschlandfunk Kultur and rbbKultur, utilizes venues including the rbb Great Broadcast Hall and radialsystem to showcase diverse contemporary compositions.
Key features of the program include orchestral works by composers such as Dieter Ammann and Milica Djordjević, alongside portrait concerts for Yiran Zhao and sound artist Zsolt Sörés. The festival aims to contextualize contemporary music trends by presenting new works alongside recent historical compositions.
Attendees are required to follow 2G+ entry protocols and must wear FFP2 masks. All concerts are broadcast via radio, with ancillary coverage provided by student reporters and artist discussions. Detailed program information is available through the festival's official website.
