Uma Robotics Recruits Top Talent in Europe
Paris-based robotics startup Uma has hired former technology leaders from Tesla and Waymo, according to co-founder Rémi Cadène. The company is focusing on developing humanoid robots for industrial and domestic use.

Paris-based robotics startup Uma has successfully recruited former technology experts from Tesla and Waymo to bolster its team. The company's co-founder, Rémi Cadène, stated at the Machina summit in July that Europe offers an ideal market for developing "frontier capabilities" in humanoid robotics.
Uma is concentrating on the development of humanoid robots for industrial and domestic environments. In its nine months of operation, the company has hired several experienced engineers, including a former head of robotics at Tesla and a former software lead from Waymo. Cadène emphasized that Europe possesses a strong engineering tradition and available top-tier talent, making it an attractive operational base.
Cadène noted that European engineers are highly skilled and motivated. He believes that Europe's high-quality education system and robust research community support innovation in the robotics sector. Uma aims to leverage this expertise to create advanced robotic solutions.
The company recently hired Tesla's former leader, Rémi Cadène, who was previously responsible for the company's technology related to humanoid robots. Uma has also made several other key hires, including Ethan Doremalus, a former software analyst from Waymo.
Uma has maintained a low profile until now, but the company's revelations at the Machina summit garnered significant interest within the physical AI field. The company intends to continue its investments in research and development and to expand its European team.
