UMC Reports Record Wafer Shipments and Revenue Growth for Q3 2026
Semiconductor manufacturer UMC reported a 25.6% year-on-year revenue increase for the third quarter of 2026, driven by record shipment volumes and a 92% capacity utilization rate.

United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has released its financial results for the third quarter of 2026, reporting revenue of NT$74.24 billion, a 25.6% increase from the same period last year. Quarter-over-quarter revenue grew by 8%.
During the third quarter, UMC hit a record high for wafer shipments, totaling the equivalent of 1.2 million 12-inch wafers. The company’s capacity utilization rate climbed to 92%, as demand across its 12-inch facilities remained at peak levels and its 8-inch fabrication plants saw a significant operational recovery.
The firm is currently reallocating portions of its existing capacity toward high-growth segments including advanced packaging, silicon photonics, and specialized process nodes. Revenue from 22nm and 28nm processes accounted for 35% of UMC’s total income for the quarter, highlighting its continued focus on these technology nodes to meet market requirements.
