The initial phase of the Ummbila Emoyeni project includes 25 Goldwind turbines, with a total capacity of 150 megawatts. The facility is located in the Eastern Cape province. According to Seriti Green, the wind farm will generate substantial amounts of clean energy, supporting South Africa's goals for carbon neutrality.
The project's total capacity is slated to reach 195 megawatts upon completion of all three phases. Ummbila Emoyeni is part of a broader effort to increase the share of renewable energy in the nation's power generation, which has historically relied heavily on coal.
