Uncle Nearest Founder Fawn Weaver Ousted
Fawn Weaver, the founder and former CEO of Uncle Nearest whiskey company, has been removed from her position. The decision follows months of legal and financial instability for the business.

Fawn Weaver, the founder and former CEO of Uncle Nearest, has been removed from the company she established. The termination, effective June 1, was detailed in federal filings submitted on July 10.
The whiskey company has been under the control of a court-appointed receiver for several months. According to receiver Philip Young, the dismissal of Weaver and her husband, co-founder Keith Weaver, has reduced confusion among employees and vendors and smoothed business operations.
Uncle Nearest is also facing a lawsuit from its lender, Farm Credit Mid-America, alleging the company defaulted on over $108 million in loans. The receiver is seeking to sell the business or its assets to achieve the best possible outcome and mitigate the company's debt.
Last year, Weaver characterized the appointment of a receiver as a "smear campaign tactic." She acknowledged that entrepreneurs face moments where all seems lost, emphasizing that successful entrepreneurs are distinguished by their refusal to give up.
