Union Memory Unveils UM301a M.2 SSD for Enterprise Use
Union Memory has introduced its upcoming UM301a M.2 SSD, designed as an enterprise server boot drive using PCIe Gen4 and a DRAM-less architecture. The drive aims to address bandwidth bottlenecks in network-based boot systems.

IT Home reports on August 12 that Union Memory (UM) has introduced its UM301a SSD. The drive is a PCIe Gen4 enterprise server boot drive in the M.2 form factor, featuring a DRAM-less architecture.
Traditional network boot methods can cause bandwidth bottlenecks in large computing clusters. M.2 form factor boot drives offer high-speed, stable, and low-latency performance without occupying storage bay resources, making them a mainstream solution.
The UM301a employs a DRAM-less design, eliminating reliance on external DRAM cache. This approach reduces power consumption and lowers bill-of-materials costs while also minimizing potential system failure points. The drive still supports essential enterprise-grade features such as full power-loss protection, out-of-band management, and high MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures).
