Uniper and Equinor Sign 15-Year Natural Gas Supply Agreement

German energy company Uniper and Norwegian energy firm Equinor have finalized a 15-year agreement for the supply of natural gas. Beginning in 2027 and extending through 2041, Equinor will deliver more than 30 terawatt-hours (TWh) of Norwegian natural gas annually to Uniper. This contract is intended to bolster long-term energy supply security for customers in Germany and further diversify Uniper's supply sources.
The natural gas will be sourced from the Norwegian Continental Shelf. This reinforces Norway's role as a significant energy provider to Europe and Equinor's position as a stable partner in the European market. Both companies highlighted the importance of such long-term supply relationships, particularly amidst ongoing volatility in global energy markets, for ensuring predictable and secure energy supplies.
