UNIQLO Opens Street Soccer Park and Learning Center in Altadena

ALTADENA, Calif. – Clothing retailer UNIQLO and non-profit Street Soccer USA announced the opening of a permanent community hub in Altadena, California. Located at St. Elizabeth Parish School, the UNIQLO Street Soccer Park & Learning Center opened on July 9. The new center will offer year-round access to safe play, mentorship, education, and community connection, particularly for families in areas affected by recent Los Angeles wildfires.

The facility features two turf soccer fields and a converted shipping container serving as a classroom and learning space. Programming will include free soccer-based activities, youth development initiatives, homework assistance, mentorship, and training in financial and digital literacy. The organizations anticipate reaching 1,000 young people within the first year. This center marks Street Soccer USA's third free-to-play hub in Los Angeles, expanding its reach beyond existing locations in Watts and South Gate.

The park's development is part of a January 2025 pledge by Fast Retailing, UNIQLO's parent company, to provide up to $2 million in funds and clothing to support communities impacted by Los Angeles wildfires. This support targets both immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts. UNIQLO has partnered with Street Soccer USA since 2013, a collaboration that has enabled over 50,000 young people to participate in its programs.

"We hope this center becomes a place where children and families can come together to play, learn, and feel supported," said Adachi Fuminori, CEO of UNIQLO USA. Lawrence Cann, Founder and CEO of Street Soccer USA, added that the park and learning center can serve as a space for young people and neighbors to gather, find support, and look ahead as Altadena recovers from the fires.
